7th grade- Wow the year is going fast! And so are the weeks. This week we are studying renewable and nonrenewable resources. Everyone should have brought home an assignment to help them calculate their carbon footprint. We will be doing this on Thursday but since the computer lab is booked, I will be offering this as an extra credit activity they can do at home. Here is the link.

We will be doing classwork only from here on out so every one should be checking often and getting all late work turned in by Friday May 16th. This is the LAST day to turn anything in! We will be working on a chapter about pollution this week and we will be reviewing and having a test on Wednesday of next week 5/14. Our Nature Center outing will be Thursday 5/15 next week. Notebooks will be due after the test on Wednesday and handed back Friday I hope.
Notebooks are going to be a very large grade this quarter. There are several students that continue to not be keeping a notebook with our daily bellwork and notes as well as our field guide for our Nature Center activities. This will be extremely hard to make up! This will also be a large grade. Parents: Please make sure that your child is keeping an up to date notebook this quarter! Their grade will definitely suffer without one! Thanks!

8th grade We are almost finished with the year! We are doing labs this week with a Calcium Carbonate lab on Monday and an Antacid lab on Thursday. In between we will be balancing equations. We will then be wrapping up the chapter and reviewing for a test on next Wednesday. I will not be sending any more homework home, we will only be doing classwork for assessment. Next week we will be doing a Tumble buggy lab after the test and this will be the last grade entered for the year. Hang in there! It is almost at the end. Please get all of your late work handed in by Wednesday 5/14. I can not accept any late work after Wednesday! Get er' done!

This online textbook is a wonderful way for the kids to always have their book anywhere there is a computer. The book is identical to the hard copy book except that it has additional resources for your student. The online text is interactive with several links and even some places where it will read the book to you. We are very short on books this year and as such are asking that students try to log on at home rather than carry a copy of the text book back and forth to school. If you need a hard copy at home for any reason, let me know ASAP and I will check out a book for your child. The seventh grade will be starting out using the red text book titled Astronomy. Try it out!
